Did you know that cavities can cause a number of serious problems? For instance, if you don’t address you cavity quickly enough, you may eventually need root canal therapy. So you need to have a cavity filled as soon as possible. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to recognize a cavity in its early stages.

You may not immediately know that a cavity has started to develop. You should visit our dentist as soon as you recognize the signs of a cavity—but you should also remember to visit our dentist once every six months. During these treatments, we’ll inspect your mouth for signs of trouble and help you prevent more serious issues.

One common early sign of a cavity is pain. You may experience this pain consistently or just when you bite down. Developing sudden sensitivity can be another indicator of a cavity. Dark brown or black spots or visible holes in your teeth are indicators of cavities.

Our team could recommend a number of treatment options for addressing your cavity. For instance, if tooth decay hasn’t broken through your enamel, a sealant could be all you need. We could also recommend a filling if your decay has worn through your enamel. For more extensive issues, we could recommend root canal therapy or a crown. Of course, we’ll be happy to examine your teeth and offer you personalized advice.
